Trinidad & Tobago
Trinidad & Tobago has a population of over 1.2 million.
The petroleum industry dominates the economy, but tourism and manufacturing are also of great importance. The current contribution of agriculture and fishing to the economy is negligible. Traditionally important agricultural export commodities included sugar, cocoa and coffee. Other agricultural products include coconuts, citrus fruits, rice, poultry and vegetables.
86-100% of the food energy consumed in Trinidad and Tobago comes from crops that are not native to the region. Most of these plants’ diversity is found elsewhere on the planet.
