Samoa has a population of around 199,000.

The tourism, services, and light manufacturing industries have become increasingly important. Agriculture accounts for two-fifths of Samoa’s gross domestic product (GDP) and it employs nearly two-thirds of the workforce. Major crops include coconuts, taro, pineapples, mangoes and other fruits.
