Kiribati
Kiribati has a population of around 106,000. Kiribati’s economy depends heavily on the export of phosphate rock, but the country’s deposits have been depleted. Commercial seaweed farming has become an important economic activity.
The major agricultural products are copra, taro, breadfruit, sweet potatoes, and vegetables. Bananas, screw-pine and papaya are also cultivated as food crops.
