Bangladesh
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world with a population of over 156 million.
Due to Bangladesh’s heavy dependence on agriculture, rural farmworkers face seasonal unemployment among rural farmworkers. There is also a generally low standard of living in many areas. Rice is the predominant agricultural product, but jute and tea also are important.
14-21% of the food energy consumed in Bangladesh comes from crops that are not native to the region. Most of these plants’ diversity is found elsewhere on the planet.
