The Crop Trust is renowned for its commitment to conserving and ensuring the availability of crop diversity for global food security. On the other hand, KIADPAI is dedicated to promoting innovation, research, and development in the date palm industry. The MoU brings the two organizations together to collaborate to ensure the future of the regional icon.
"The partnership between the Crop Trust and the Khalifa International Award marks a significant step towards enhancing the conservation and use of date palm diversity. This collaboration underscores the importance of collective action in safeguarding crop diversity to promote innovation and sustainable agricultural practices." said Sarada Krishnan, Director of Programs at the Crop Trust.
Under the MoU, the parties commit to collaborating on a range of activities, including the documentation of date palm collections globally, identifying gaps in conservation efforts, describing current conservation methods, and identifying high-priority actions for conservation. This landmark partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing the preservation and sustainable use of date palm diversity, ensuring that future generations are able to enjoy this wonderful fruit as much as we do today.
