CGIAR Science Week
The inaugural CGIAR Science Week, organized by CGIAR and the Kenyan Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), brings together leading scientists, policymakers, and innovators in agriculture, climate, and health. This event focuses on advancing research, fostering critical partnerships, and securing investment in sustainable food systems. The program highlights the CGIAR Research Portfolio 2025-2030, with plenary and parallel sessions, innovation showcases, and field visits demonstrating transformative solutions in action.

Dr. Sarada Krishnan, representing the Crop Trust as Director of Programs, will be actively participating in the following sessions. Her presence underscores the critical role of genebanks in global agricultural resilience and biodiversity conservation, as well as the Crop Trust’s commitment to advancing these efforts through strategic partnerships and innovation.
Genebanks Accelerator – Portfolio session (8 April 8:00-10:00)
The new Accelerator marks a milestone for CGIAR genebanks, unlocking their full potential for targeted and active use. Now operating at high conservation standards, genebanks are central to the new Portfolio and global biodiversity efforts. This session will introduce funders, users, and the genebanks community to the Accelerator’s role in advancing conservation, strengthening agricultural resilience and driving sustainable use of genetic resources. Experts from conservation, agriculture, and policy will explore how this initiative fosters innovation and impact at a global scale.
Session 5: Genebanks & the outside world (CoPs, LOAs WorldVeg)
Panel discussion on the role of the CGIAR genebanks: how to increase global impact?
Plenary 3: Targeting Transformation - Africa & Harvesting Innovation - Latin America & Caribbean (9 April 10:30 – 13:30)
Segment 2: Harvesting Innovation - Latin America & Caribbean
Innovation and collaboration are driving the transformation of Latin America and the Caribbean's (LAC) agri-food systems, helping the region navigate pressing challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, competitiveness, and food and nutritional security. With a strong emphasis on resilience and sustainability, this session explores how regional initiatives, such as AgriLAC Resiliente, are being integrated into agri-food innovation systems to enhance their impact and scalability. This discussion will highlight how research, technology, and policy innovations are shaping more adaptive and competitive agri-food sector in LAC. It will bring together experts from leading agricultural institutions, research organizations, and policy sectors to examine best practices in agricultural innovation, the role of cross-sector collaboration, and strategies to scale transformative solutions.
