Paul Neate is a freelance science writer, editor and communications professional specializing in agricultural and rural development. With over 35 years of experience in publishing, public awareness and information dissemination activities in international agricultural research and development institutes, he has led communications programs in the International Livestock Research Institute, the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture, Bioversity International and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), including developing and implementing communications strategies.
He also served on the FAO Informal Panel of Experts Developing the Global Strategy for the Management of Animal Genetic Resources. Since going freelance in 2009, his clients have included the Centre for Development and Environment (University of Bern, Switzerland), the Crop Trust, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and several CGIAR centers.
