Carlos Furche

Mr. Carlos Furche is an agricultural engineer from the Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), he also has an MS in Sociology from the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO). He has an extensive professional career in Chile and several Latin American countries as a specialist in agriculture policies, trade policies and institutional building.
He has served as Agriculture Minister of Chile 2014-2018, and as International Trade Vice Minister 2004 to 2010. More recently, 2018-2019, he was director (a.i) of the Agricultural Economic Division (ESA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Currently he is a consultant for several international organizations such as IADB (Inter American Development Bank ), FAO, IICA, IFPRI and he is also a member of the external advisory council of the Agrarian Sciences and Food Faculty of the Austral University in Chile.
